Grand Bay-Westfield

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is a peaceful, rural community bordering the renowned St. John River. The town offers an outstanding quality of life set in dramatic scenery and relaxing pastimes provided by nearby rivers and lakes – all within close proximity to an urban centre.

The community is within easy access to both Saint John and Fredericton via New Brunswick’s provincial highway system.

History
French and English colonial explorers documented that the area was inhabited by First Nations. Prior to the creation of the Province of New Brunswick, the area was settled as land grants. The land grants were re-registered with the influx of the United Empire Loyalists in 1784.
The former Town of Grand Bay and the former Village of Westfield, originally part of “cottage country”, were amalgamated in 1998.

Lifestyle
Scenic waterways present much opportunity for recreation of all kinds, in all seasons – from bird watching, to kayaking, to ice fishing. As well, the town has many service clubs and organizations. This familyfriendly community has many services available to residents and housing options are varied, from rural to suburban. A short ferry ride away is pastoral, rural New
Brunswick. The City of Saint John is a quick trip away on the highway.
Saint John Transit offers a bus service connecting the town with all points in Saint John.

Business
The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield has a strong focus on sustainable waterfront, recreation and ecotourism. It is a growing service and retail centre for the Lower St. John River Valley. Over 100 businesses serve the 8,000 residents of the town and surrounding areas.
The town’s unique location offers local businesses access to larger urban consumer markets, a wide pool of potential employees, suppliers, business and government.
